Designing Motherhood

Designing Motherhood, a multifaceted project comprising a two-venue exhibition, a book, a design curriculum, a Story Bank oral history project, and public programs, debuts its second exhibition in Philadelphia at the Center for Architecture and Design, September 10 – November 14, 2021. The exhibition will feature approximately 70 objects that explore the arc of human reproduction over the past 50 years with the aim of spotlighting contemporary experiences around human reproduction. It will feature three new artist commissions.

Designing Motherhood exhibit occurred at Center for Architecture + Design, September 10 – November 13, 2021. The exhibit included work from visual artist, muralist, community arts educator, and filmmaker Michelle Angela Ortiz as well as interdisciplinary artist Helina Metaferia. I included two wooden sculptures along with a video documentary in the exhibit.
